During his appearance on “State of the Union” with Dana Bash (CNN), Republican Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland exclaimed it was time to re-evaluate Republican Party priorities.
“It’s basically the third election in a row that Donald Trump has cost us the race, and it’s like, three strikes, you’re out.”
Specifying President Biden’s low approval rating, he said, “This should have been a huge red wave. It should have been one of the biggest red waves we’ve ever had.”
And yet, his party “still didn’t perform.”
Republicans, whom Hogan has labeled “commonsense conservatives,” placed focus on current issues like education, crime, and the economy. In these elections, Republican candidates dominantly won.
“But people who tried to re-litigate the 2020 election and focused on conspiracy theories … they were all almost universally rejected.”
He wants to see Republicans regroup and reestablish “a more hopeful, positive vision” for the party.
“We have to get back to a party that appeals to more people, that can win in tough places, like I have done in Maryland.”
